Creating Content

Machined's main premise is to help you rank better on search engines - but how?

Here's how: an increase in topical coverage, leads to an increase in topical authority, leads to an increase in presence on search results, leads to an increase in natural backlinks, leads to an increase in organic traffic. Now give me money.

With Machined, you can build a flywheel of ever growing organic traffic.

So, that means we're starting with increasing your topical coverage, let's go!

What's in a topic?

The main strategy that we lean on is to help you increase your topical coverage by making it easy to write high quality content covering many topics that people in your industry and niche actually search for. This in turn will aid in building your website's topical authority, creating a flywheel of organic traffic

and consequently build up your topical authority

Machined will help you create a flywheel that

Hand-rearing and babysitting a single piece of content in the hope of ranking for one high-volume keyword, isn't going to help you. What you need are lots of high quality articles, covering lots of things that people in your industry search for. This will also help you in the eyes of the search engines - covering enough breadth adn depth of your niche that they start to believe you know your stuff. On top of that, the more high-quality content you have, the more external sites will want to link to your content.

Long-tail keywords

Is writing articles on long-tail keywords worth it - yes it is, and for many reasons. Consider trying to rank on search engine results. If you, a new low-traffic website with a low DR, publishes an article on a high volume keyword like "best dog breeds" the likelihood of placing on the first page is hopeless at best. Search engines will simply prefer to rank established brands with authority in the field, its in their interest to do so. However, if you write a super niche article that answers a long-tail keyword like "best dog leash for older women with three-legged labradoodle" - well there probably aren't many articles on that topic anyway and if anyone wants to link to an external source, you are much more likely to be it.

The reasoning for long-tail keywords being valuable for ranking on search results, applies just as much to gaining natural backlinks, the goldmine of organic traffic. Think about it this way, when people write articles and want an external source to reference, where do they look? The search results of course - and there you are, waiting with an article on "which brand of grit is best for frizzle chickens" (its a real thing trust me).

At Machined, we don't believe in "god articles", the days of writing a few strong articles and ranking above big players because your content is "better", well, never really existed. You have to work your way up, you have to prove your salt by building up your topical authority. That means writing for the topics that really matter in your industry and specific niche.
