2026
2026-10-16: Publish to Shopify, Wix, Ghost and Framer
You can now publish articles straight to four more platforms, alongside WordPress, Webflow and webhooks:
- Shopify — publish to your store's blog through an app you create in the Shopify Dev Dashboard. See Connecting to Shopify.
- Wix — publish to your Wix blog with an API key and site ID. See Connecting to Wix.
- Ghost — publish to your Ghost site with a custom integration's Admin API key. See Connecting to Ghost.
- Framer — publish to your Framer CMS with a Framer API key. See Connecting to Framer.
Each works with single and bulk publishing, republishing and unpublishing. See Publishing.
HubSpot publishing is coming soon. See Connecting to HubSpot.
2026-10-02: Bulk publish to webhooks
You can now bulk publish cluster articles when a webhook is your only publishing destination. See Publishing via webhooks.
2026-09-29: Writing defaults, and a country and language for every project
Writing defaults
Each project now has a Writing defaults tab in Project settings. Set your preferred model, length, heading case, brand voice, research, citations, images, YouTube videos, internal links, FAQ section, custom instructions and research sources once, and every new article and cluster row starts from them.
If a default isn't available to your workspace any more (for example, deep research without a Perplexity key), Machined falls back to the standard setting and tells you. See Writing defaults.
Country and language
Projects now have a Country and Language in Project settings → Basic info, and new articles and clusters use them for keyword data, SERP analysis and research. See Language.
2026-09-02: AI Visibility
Find out whether AI recommends you
AI Visibility is now available to every workspace. Track the questions your customers ask across Google AI Overview, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, and see:
- Your visibility score, prompt coverage, share of voice, mentions and citations
- How you compare with up to 10 competitors
- What AI praises, what to address, and how it describes you
- Which sources AI cites, which of your pages get cited, and which pages are winning citations instead
Machined suggests prompts from your website to get you started, and you can run once or on a schedule.
Pay per run
AI Visibility is an add-on paid from a prepaid credit balance shared across your projects — it isn't part of your plan. Each engine has its own price per prompt, from 1c. Credit never expires, and anything that doesn't run is refunded. Every workspace gets $2 of free credit to start. Workspace owners can add credit from Billing and usage, and every member can see the balance, scheduled runs and recent activity.
See AI Visibility and Setting up AI Visibility for details.
2026-08-29: A new look, keyword difficulty and billing for everyone
A refreshed Machined
The whole app has been redesigned — sign-in, onboarding, the project dashboard, clusters, articles and settings — and it's more accessible too. See How Machined is organized for a tour of where everything lives.
Keyword difficulty
The KD column in clusters now uses an improved keyword difficulty score that shows how hard it is to reach the top ten organic results for each keyword, from 0 to 100. Keyword volumes and SERP data come from the country you're writing for. Clusters created before this change don't have a score. See Keyword metrics.
Billing and usage for every member
Every member can now see the workspace's plan, usage and credit on Billing and usage. Only the owner can change the plan or make purchases, and other members are told this up front. See Billing and plans.
2026-07-29: Republish and email preferences
Republish and Unpublish
Published articles now offer Republish, which updates the existing post in place, and Unpublish, which lets the next publish create a fresh post (the live post isn't removed). Both are available in the editor, the cluster table and the Articles list, and Unpublish also works in bulk. See Publishing.
Email preferences
Settings → Notifications now lets you choose which emails you get: newsletter, offers and promotions, getting-started emails and product updates. You can also unsubscribe from everything.
2026-06-08: New plans
- Scale plan: our largest hosted plan, for teams publishing at volume, with AI usage included.
- BYOK plan: bring your own API keys, with up to 2,000 articles a month.
- Unlimited projects on every paid plan.
See Plans & Pricing.
2026-05-31: Research, publishing and cluster improvements
Research
- Include URLs now work with Basic research as well as Deep.
- New Custom research mode: research only the URLs you provide, with no web search.
- New No citations style: research informs the article without adding links.
See Research.
Publishing
- Publish via webhooks: send articles to any destination that accepts a webhook.
- Internal-link path prefix: set a path prefix when publishing to WordPress so internal links point at the right URLs.
Clusters
- Rewrite and Reset for cluster articles, and cluster settings now save automatically.
- Deduplication is now a toggle for manual clusters.
- Delete articles from the cluster table, one at a time or in bulk.
2026-04-26: New app launch
A completely new Machined
We've rebuilt Machined from the ground up. Here's what's new:
Workspaces & projects
Your content is now organized into workspaces and projects. A workspace contains all your projects, members, billing, and API keys. Each project is a dedicated space for a website or content destination — with its own clusters, articles, brand voices, and CMS connections.
Platform key — no API key required
New users are no longer required to bring their own API key. Machined now includes a platform key with every plan, covering your usage up to your monthly article limit. If you prefer to use your own key (BYOK), that's still fully supported.
Multi-provider AI support
Machined now supports multiple AI providers for content generation — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Perplexity, and OpenRouter. You can select your preferred provider per article or cluster.
Single articles
Generate individual articles without creating a cluster. Useful for one-off pieces or testing a keyword before committing to full topical coverage.
New plans & pricing
We've updated our plans to reflect the new platform key model. See Plans & Pricing for details.
Workspace members
Invite members to collaborate in your workspace. All projects and content are shared across the workspace. See Members and roles for details.
2026-01-07: New AI models and in-line editing
New models
- Google Nano Banana: for AI images. Considered one of the best current AI image generators.
- GPT-5.1: for AI text, one of OpenAI's most recent text models.
Inline AI editing
We've also added inline AI editing to the text editor. You can now re-customize your content directly with short paragraph or sentence based edits e.g. shorten, lengthen, rewrite, or custom prompts.
2025
2025-05-29: Heading style
We've just added a new Heading Style setting to V3 clusters
You can now choose between Title Case and Sentence Case for headings in articles. The setting will affect auto-generated outlines when using a built-in content type, applying to all H2, H3 and H4 headings.
| Heading Style | Example |
|---|---|
| Title Case | How To Write The Best Articles in 2025 |
| Sentence Case | How to write the best articles in 2025 |
The new setting is available in the Advanced settings tab
Note: This setting does not affect titles, we will expose a separate setting for titles at a later date
2025-05-25: Machined V3 beta
Machined V3 is now available for everyone to use - it is now an opt-in open beta, so please enable it and try out the new features.
What's new?
Here's a quick breakdown of the major new features available to you now.
| Feature | What is it? |
|---|---|
| Custom Brand Voices | Create a custom brand voice - mimic your existing content, customize a built-in voice or bring your own style guide |
| Custom Briefs and Directions | Tell the agent exactly what should be in the content - brand mentions, CTAs, tables, custom data |
| In-app Content Editor | Edit your content before exporting or publishing - update content, add/remove links, edit tables and much more |
| Improved Deep Research | Run automated research up front and curate the results before writing content - more control, fewer rewrites |
| Content Types | Write listicles, reviews, comparisons, tutorials and more - you can still provide your own outline as well |
| New models | Brand new writing agent using o1 and o4-mini reasoning models |
The documentation is still in the kitchen, but you can read about the highlights below...
New features
Enable V3
You can enable the new V3 engine in the experimental features section.
You can then select the new engine from the AI Engine dropdown when creating a new cluster.
Note: The V3 Engine is only available on new clusters
Custom voices
Machined allows you to choose from a number of built-in voices or create your own custom brand voice - giving you the ability to create hyper personalized content.
Custom briefs and directions
Custom briefs allow you to give detailed directions to the writing agent.
This little box is one of the most powerful features in the new version, allowing you to give personal insights on the topic as well as the ability to fine-tune what the writing agent will do.
Some common examples:
"Mention our brand..."
"Include 5 sections in the listicle"
"Use bold to emphasize importance"
"Add an FAQ with 5 questions at the end of the article"
"Include a table in each section highlighting the steps and gotchas"
Research improvements
You can now run automated and directed research up front, allowing you to read and curate the results before writing the article - more control, fewer rewrites!
Content editor
Machined now has a built-in editor, so you can edit the content before exporting or publishing. You can edit the text, apply formatting, add/remove links, edit tables and much more
New models
We've added support for the new reasoning models from OpenAI, we currently make use of gpt-o1 and gpt-o4-mini
The average costs per article are:
- $0.10 to $0.50 per article for
gpt-o1 - $0.01 to $0.05 per article for
gpt-o4-mini
Note: We highly recommend you stick to
gpt-o1for now - while the cheaper model is available, we're still fine-tuning and optimizing it, you might see shorter text and lower density of links than you would expect. We will clarify when the model has been finalized, but if you do use it, please give feedback so we can improve it.
2025-04-01: Brand voice beta
We're expanding our Brand Voice beta to more users, read more below and let us know if you're interested in trying it out...
Brand voice closed beta
We're expanding the beta of our Brand Voice feature and inviting other users to try it out!
This feature allows you to train the AI on existing content and use more powerful models like GPT O1 and GPT 4.5 to write the content. The output quality is miles better and the cost isn't too bad either, we'll share more on that when this is ready for launch.
Anyway, if you're on a paid plan (Professional, Unlimited or Business) and have a unique brand voice you're trying to replicate, please reach out to the team
2025-03-24: Bulk research, language fixes and more
We've added bulk settings to the Research feature, we've improved German language output (formal vs informal) and improved our title prompts.
All the juicy details below...
Bulk research settings
A much requested feature allowing you to bulk apply Research settings to all articles in the cluster. This should save you a bunch of time if you usually pass the same settings to each article.
When changing Research settings for an article, there's now a handy little button that will apply all the same settings to all other unwritten articles in the cluster. Boom!
Be careful when using it, don't forget to update the settings on other articles if needed.
Language improvements
We've been hard at work optimizing some languages.
The latest changes are for you Germans! There are two new languages in the list, that are tailored for formal or informal content. Please try them out and let us know if the improvement is helpful.
We've added:
- German (Formal - Sie)
- German (Informal - Du)
We're planning on doing the same for French, Spanish and Italian, which might be experiencing the same issues - let the team know if the effort is worthwhile
Title improvements
We've optimized our title prompts again so the format that the built-in model uses is much more varied and human like. Let us know if it's an improvement and what other tweaks we can make...
2025-03-16: Stability AI images
Stability AI
We've introduced a Stable Diffusion 3.5 Large based image model. This model is miles better when compared to DALL-E 3, it's way more predictable and creates much more realistic images (if that's your flavor).
You can even apply it as auto-generate on your clusters
While in beta, it doesn't require any api keys, which means we're funding it for the time being (gotta love our spending habits). Long term you'll need to provide your own Replicate api keys - which will allow us to bring many more image models to the platform.
Note: The Stability image model is free for all users while it is in beta - so give it a try and give us some feedback
2025-02-22: Improvements and bug fixes
The last month has been a massive focus for the team on fixing bugs and adding optimizations
- Prompt tweaks
- Fixed multiple language issues
- Fixed inconsistencies between models
- Improved link placement algos
- Fair usage rate limit improvements
- Rate limits relaxed by 12%
- Platform performance improvements
- Added extra parallelism to article writer
- Better token usage prediction
2025-01-14: Reduced costs
Clusters and titles are on us
In the beginning, Machined was a fully bring-your-own-key platform, which meant that your api keys would be used for everything including the construction of auto-pilot clusters as well as generating titles. Well that's changed now! From today, we will no longer be using your api key for these tasks, constructing clusters and generating titles will be an internal cost for the platform.
This will make the platform easier to use, and also reduce your OpenAI bill slightly...
Why we're doing this
For many new users, adding an api key as a first step can be confusing and scary. We were thinking about ways to make it easier for new users to see the power of machined without the hurdle of adding keys. While we were experimenting, we saw that this was a benefit for everyone in the same way, so in evolving the platform, we've taken the step to improve the experience and reduce costs for everyone.
As always, we're focused on value-driven decisions for our users
2024
2024-12-26: Projects
Projects
We've added improvements in how you manage content!
Projects give you a nice way to manage your related content or campaigns.
Think of projects as folders for your content, making it easy for you to manage and organize related content and campaigns. You can create as many projects as you like, and clusters can be moved between projects very easily. If you feel like it you could even categorize your existing clusters into projects.
Projects bear no significance on the actual content, they are solely a way for you to manage and organize your clusters in the platform.
We hope it's useful, let us know what you think...
2024-12-10: Improvements and bug fixes
The last couple of weeks have been all about listening to feedback and making improvements! The team has tackled a total of 15 improvements to both usability and the quality of the output:
- 3 language tweaks
- 7 UX improvements
- 5 pesky bugs
2024-11-12: Custom outlines GTM
Custom outlines out of experimental
The Custom Outlines feature is out of beta and ready for everyone to use
That's it, check out the Custom Instructions docs
2024-10-06: Humanizer GTM
Humanizer out of experimental
The Machined Humanizer is out of beta and ready for everyone to use
That's it, check out the Humanizer docs
2024-09-23: Model updates
Model updates
As you may have noticed we've made some model updates.
For article writing:
- We've deprecated
GPT-4andGPT-4 Turboin favor of the newGPT-4o - We're keeping
GPT-3.5 Turboin place for the time-being but have updated the underlying variant to the cheapergpt-3.5-0125
In the near future we also plan to change the models used for research, from the current gpt-3.5-0125 to the new gpt-4o-mini which will reduce the cost of research massively - stay tuned...
2024-09-10: Custom outlines beta
Custom outlines
We've released our Custom Outlines feature in experimental mode! Give it a shot and give us some feedback!
Custom Outlines are great when you want to control the structure and content of your articles more closely.
The Outline Editor is super easy to use, it supports markdown format and will extract the headings from any markdown you paste in (so you can throw an entire article in there and get the outline).
This feature is being released in Experimental Mode to all users, so please give it a try and report any issues to us on the in-app chat.
Check the documentation for more info
2024-08-25: UX improvements
UX improvements
We've been making a concerted effort to make minor experience and usability improvements on a consistent basis.
- You can enable-all for Research and Humanizer by clicking on table headers
- The full title shows when you hover on it
- We've improved column spacing
2024-08-17: Humanizer improvements
Humanizer improvements
The Humanizer has received some love and attention!
We've migrated the model used for humanizing content from gpt-4o-2024-05-13 to gpt-4o-2024-08-06. We needed to overhaul and retrain our prompts but it was worth it as it makes it 42% cheaper
While in there, we also made other improvements:
- It more closely follows tone of voice
- It changes headings less often
- It uses slightly fewer tokens
2024-07-22: GPT-4o-mini
GPT-4o mini and other model changes
This new model release from OpenAI allows us to make the giant step toward high-quality articles that cost less than a cent, yes less than a cent!
You can start using this model to write your articles right now - so jump into machined and give it a go!
Please bear in mind that until we perfect the prompts for this model, we are considering it as experimental, so make sure you check the content very carefully - especially fact and link checking is a must...
2024-06-12: Humanizer beta
Humanizer
Humanize your "machined" output - what a weird world we live in.
That's right, we've just launched an experimental early version of our new humanization feature!
This new feature will make your articles sound more human to people by removing fluff, paraphrasing and replacing certain words/phrases commonly used by AI. The intention is to use more casual and realistic language and structure.
PS. This is not intended to fool AI detectors, and likely won't...
Notes
This feature is experimental so you will need to have experimental features enabled - and there are some things to be aware of before you use it.
Please read the docs for all the info
