Clusters
A content cluster is a group of related articles, each targeting a different keyword, that are automatically interlinked. Clusters build topical authority by giving search engines a clear picture of your expertise on a subject.
How clusters work
When you create a cluster, you provide a main keyword. In Auto-Pilot mode, Machined uses that keyword to research and select a set of related keywords — one per article. In Manual mode, you provide the keywords yourself.
Once the cluster is created, you can review the articles, edit titles, and remove any that don't fit before writing.
When articles are written, Machined automatically adds internal links between them, creating a tightly-connected body of content.
Cluster size
You choose the size of your cluster when creating it. Larger clusters provide more topical coverage but take longer to write. If you're unsure, start small.
| Size | Articles |
|---|---|
| Small | 5–10 |
| Medium | 10–20 |
| Large | 20–30 |
Single articles vs clusters
Clusters are the best choice for building topical authority over time. For one-off pieces, use single articles instead.
