Publishing to Shopify
Once you've connected your Shopify store, you can publish articles directly to its blog from Machined.ai.
Publishing an article
- Open a written article in the editor and click Publish in the bar above the article. From a cluster, you can also open the article's menu and click Publish article.
- If your project has more than one destination, choose your Shopify connection.
- Choose a publish status, then click Publish.
Publish status options
- Publish live: published immediately and publicly visible on your store's blog
- Save as draft: saved to Shopify as a hidden article, not publicly visible
What's sent to Shopify
- Title and body
- Slug: used as the article's URL handle, so it lives at
your-store.com/blogs/<blog>/<slug> - Description: used as the article's excerpt and as its SEO meta description
- Featured image and images in the body: uploaded to your store's Files
- Author: the author name you set when connecting, or your store name
Images are only uploaded if your Shopify app has the write_files permission. Without it, the article is published without images. See Connecting to Shopify.
Publishing in bulk
Open a cluster, select the articles using the checkboxes, and click Publish (n). Choose your Shopify connection and publish status. All selected articles that are ready to publish will be sent.
Updating or re-sending an article
Once published, an article shows Republish and Unpublish. Republish updates the existing Shopify article with your latest changes; Unpublish lets you publish it again as a new article. An article can only be published to one CMS connection at a time. See Republishing and unpublishing.
When you republish:
- Republishing as a draft hides an article that's already live.
- If you've removed the description or featured image in Machined, it's removed in Shopify too.
- If the article was deleted in Shopify, republishing fails. Unpublish it in Machined, then publish again to create a new article.
